snow and Star Trek
We got a mess of snow last night -- thankfully after getting home from Boskone. It looks very pretty, and I don't have to go any further than the dojo today, so I'm content with it. (Folks around here are generally good about shoveling their sidewalks.)

Marco Palmieri also made an announcement this morning that I knew about many months ago: Pocket is cutting back from two Star Trek mass market paperbacks per month to one. I think this is a good move editorially, as it allows the editorial staff to focus more and make each individual book stronger. I think this is a terrible move selfishly, because it means fewer slots in the line where I make most of my living. *sigh*

But what can you do? I've got my fingers in the Marvel books, and one other tie-in possibility, and my agent is flogging my original work. Worse comes to worse I'll drive cab or something.... *wry grin*

Does this mean they will have the time to get the SCE books out on schedule? (Grin).

Hmm. Would things like SCE compilations count against the 1 book limit? That would be icky.

I have mixed feelings about this, but overall I hope it makes for even stronger books (not that I've had complaints about them).

As a writer just getting my feet wet with Trek, this makes it that much harder to crack the door open any further.

Fortunately, I have other stuff I'm working on, so it's not like all my hopes are on Star Trek getting my novels.

Just have to earn that slot all the more, now. :)
