There's no gentle way to put it.
The Department of Homeland Security has slashed the budget for federal anti-terror funds in New York City, while raising it for those terrorist hot-spot targets, Louisville, Atlanta, and Omaha. The report says with a straight face that New York City has no national monuments or icons.
Yes, you read that right. From the Daily News
article linked to above:
For instance, in the category "national monuments and icons," the feds list none. For banking and finance businesses, they could find only four worth more than $8 billion, when the Bloomberg administration estimates there are at least 20.
Apparently the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations, the Empire State Building, and, oh yeah, Ground Zero aren't national monuments or icons.
I hereby issue a chellenge to anyone who considers themselves a conservative and/or a Republican to defend this decision, because I can't see any
justification for it. You know you've gone off the reservation as a Republican when the New York Post
is against you. (Today's headline was "Washington to New York: TERROR? WHAT TERROR?: Feds slash our funds to boost hicks in sticks.")
I can't even bring myself to be angry, because this is just the latest in a series of despicable, venal, disgusting, inhuman decisions made by an administration that has absolutely no interest in serving the interests of the United States of America. It's going to take decades
to undo the damage these fucknuts have done to a once-great country.
