This weekend is the 30th anniversary of the Boogie Knights, the band I have been percussionist for since 2006. The band itself got started in 1982 at Shore Leave 4 as a masquerade skit. Thirty years later, only two of the original group -- John Scheeler and David Keefer -- are still part of the band, and the Knights have gone from silly novelty act to "serious" parody band. We're in the midst of recording our sixth CD ( Oh, What a Knight will, I believe, be the title), and this weekend at Shore Leave 34 we'll be doing two shows: our usual Saturday 11am concert, as well as performing where it all started, at the Masquerade halftime. Here's our riff on "Livin' La Vida Loca," entitled "Sailin' With Captain Morgan," which will be on the new CD, performed here at MarsCon 2011:
