This weekend is the 30th anniversary of the Boogie Knights, the band I have been percussionist for since 2006. The band itself got started in 1982 at Shore Leave 4 as a masquerade skit. Thirty years later, only two of the original group -- John Scheeler and David Keefer -- are still part of the band, and the Knights have gone from silly novelty act to "serious" parody band. We're in the midst of recording our sixth CD (Oh, What a Knight
will, I believe, be the title), and this weekend at Shore Leave 34
we'll be doing two shows: our usual Saturday 11am concert, as well as performing where it all started, at the Masquerade halftime.
