Haven't been updating on this much, have I? Sorry, but I have been writing. "When the Magick Goes Away" is now at 14,350 words, and I'm on the seventh of ten sections/chapters/whatever. A quick excerpt: "I believe we shall speak to him again, but until then, we've learned all we can so far from this scene."
"Have we? I don't see that we've learned much of anything beyond the fact that Kort was killed here and taken outside."
Now Danthres grinned, looking forward to showing this neophyte how detective work was done. "We know that he was killed by someone he knew and trusted. It's not possible for a wizard to be caught unawares by a stranger, so he must have allowed his killer to get very close to him. He then wanted everyone to know that he'd killed a wizard, so he left the body outside in front of the wizard's shop where it was guaranteed to be seen in very short order. Our killer is someone who is bold, a friend to both victims, and who has something to gain by their very public deaths."
Nodding, ban Wyvald said, "Yes, I can see that. Thank you for that."
To Danthres's annoyance, he sounded completely sincere.
