Neil Armstrong and Jerry Nelson, RIP
Two important people from my childhood have died this week also.

Neil Armstrong was the first human to set foot on the moon, and he lived a life of dignity and class and awesomeness. He died last weekend at the age of 82. I'm told I saw him walk on the moon, though I was only three months old and therefore don't remember it. How-some-ever, I can't imagine my parents were doing anything else on 20 July 1969....

Jerry Nelson had a much more profound effect on me directly, as he was one of Jim Henson's most versatile Muppeteers. He's best known as the voice of Count von Count ("Ah, ah, ah, I love to count!"), but that only scratches the surface. He also was the man behind Sherlock Hemlock, Herry Monster, the Amazing Mumford, and Mr. Snuffleupagus on Sesame Street and Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Pigs in Space's Dr. Julius Strangepork, Lew Zealand, Robin the Frog, and Carmilla the Chicken on The Muppet Show.
