"Heroes Welcome" is done, at a hair under 7000 words! It's off with  girasole -- speaking of whom, the next step is to address her feedback on "Blood in the Water." Now all the stories for Tales from Dragon Precinct are done. Me am happy. Still have to write an introduction and look over all the stories, but it should be with the good folks at Dark Quest Books by mid-November at the latest. An excerpt from "Heroes Welcome": Bogg started to stand, but Thorn held up both hands. "Look, we don't want any trouble!"
Kail said, "Seriously, as Wiate is our witness, we're straight now! We did our time, and we'd be just as happy to forget we ever even met Mitos!"
Harshly, Genero said, "You allied yourself with evil. Such actions have dire consequences."
"We weren't 'allies.'" Thorn shook his head. "We were employees. We didn't give a shit what Mitos wanted to accomplish, we just liked getting a hundred gold a week."
Ubàrlig's eyes widened. "A week?"
"Oh yeah," Kail said. "'Course, there were all kindsa conditions, like wearing those stupid helmets."
"And that chainmail chafed like you wouldn't believe," Thorn added. |
