stuff what I've found on the Internet
More links, which are not necessarily friendly to anti-feminists, gun nuts, and Republicans.

Gun-toting soccer mom Meleanie Hain found dead. What a total shock that this imbecile who showed up packing heat at a kids soccer game is dead from domestic gun violence. My stance on gun control -- to wit, we need a shit-ton more of it -- isn't because of outliers like Newtown, it's because of everyday shit like this. Without guns in the house, this is an argument, possibly a fight in which someone in injured. With guns, it's a murder-suicide. This is the problem with the fetishizing of guns, because the majority of gun deaths aren't crazy people breaking into your homes, it's accidents in the home and people shooting their loved ones.

Alisa Valdes, the author of The Feminist and the Cowboy -- a book, based on the author's own experieces, in which a feminist is shown how to be a real woman by a manly man -- is being abused by her manly man. Gee, maybe there is something to this whole feminism notion after all.....

Michael S. Alford has a new book: Swindled: How the GOP Cheated Ron Paul and Lost Themselves the Election. What amuses me is the linked article by Kevin Kervick about the book expresses shock -- shock! -- that a political party would hijack the electoral process to guarantee a favored candidate, a stance that shows an appalling lack of knowledge about the entire history of American elections. How the heck does Kervick think Warren G. Harding became president?

You might want to clarify that the Hain case took place 3 years ago..... (it doesn't change he argument, but presenting it as a current example isn't accurate).

I read the Valdes article. Somehow I doubt she will ever undo the damage her book did, unless the fight she has with her publisher goes viral.

Kind of sad links.

1. I grew up in a very rural place. The guns my grandpa had were tools to be used for protection against rabid animals that would invade from time to time, also to hunt for food if needed (he was around during the depression). They were treated with respect and a healthy dose of fear, used sparingly, and kept locked away from children. I don't particularly like them or have one, but I live in a suburb and don't feel the need for one. I don't know how we're going to keep guns away from people who would abuse them, but I wish we could.
2. I'm so glad I never heard about that book.
3. Politics are ugly.
