So we discover that our flight has been changed from a 6.20 flight to a 5.40 flight. Silly us, we thought this would make our lives better................
It rained so much in New York earlier in the day that they closed LaGuardia for two hours. This had a brutal cascade effect on flights to NYC, as many people can attest. Our flight was delayed to 7.20. We boarded the plane -- and sat on it for THREE FUCKING HOURS!!!!! We were constantly pushed back due to the backlog of flights going to New York.
After three hours of no flying, American Airlines no longer allows their pilots and crew to work, so they cancelled the flight. Because it was technically a weather delay, AA doesn't comp hotel rooms, but they did give us the "distress rate," which is $20 less than the lowest rate at this hotel, which beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, albeit not by much. (The shuttle driver's response when we approached the shuttle saying, "We got screwed by American Airlines," was to smile and say, "Welcome to Atlanta!")
Our new flight is at 8am tomorrow, which means we need to go to bed soon, as we have to be up at 5.15am to go through the whole mishegoss
all over again.
But first, we've ordered wings! BECAUSE WINGS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER!!!!!
Also: we may be punchy.
