Dr. Strange is fun
It isn't in the top range of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films -- not as transcendent as Avengers or any of the Captain America films, say -- but it's very entertaining and not weak the way Ant-Man, The Incredible Hulk, and the Iron Man sequels were. Honestly, it's right about at the same level for me as Guardians of the Galaxy.

In fact, here's my updated ranking of the MCU films. If you want more specific reasons for the rankings, read this initial list, made on the eve of Captain America: Civil War's release.

1. Avengers
T-2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
T-2. Captain America: Civil War
4. Iron Man
5. Thor
6. Captain America: The First Avenger
T-7. Guardians of the Galaxy
T-7. Doctor Strange
9. Avengers: Age of Ultron
10. Thor: The Dark World
11. Iron Man 2
12. Ant-Man
13. Iron Man 3
14. The Incredible Hulk

I have it much higher on my list, as well as GotG but that also has to do with being a fan of both titles long before they were films and appreciating they way they were approached.

GotG and Strange being as low as seventh isn't an indictment of those two films, but a statement as to how good the six above them are. *grin*

I seem to have a lesser opinion of Thor 1 and Iron Man 1 (other than the breakout it represented) than most..

I actually haven't watched Iron Man in a while. I wonder if my high regard for it would remain eight years later. Having said that, it really did set the tone for the entire franchise, and that's not unimportant.

As for Thor, I fucking adore that movie. It's Jack Kirby's artwork brought to life, and the casting of everyone is magnificent.

Both movies also have BY FAR the best villains (the main issue I have with all the films that don't have Tom Hiddleston or Jeff Bridges in them).
