Have they gone through the barrier at the galactic edge, or is that just a gas nebula behind the ship?

Neither. All I'll say for sure is that hte image relates to
Ishtar Rising
by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels. *grin*

Wow. The title looks better than I expected. :)
Do you choose which coauthors to allow so that they don't get separated on the cover? ;)
Speaking of which, Loren Coleman's last name is misspelled.

This isn't the final treatment for the byline, and I'll make sure it's fixed at the mechanical stage.
Thanks!

Wow! Admittedly, I've never seen the ship before, but it looks like a cross between the Enterprise, the Defiant, and a runabout. :o

The ship is
Sabre
-class, a design seen as part of the fleet that attacked the Borg cube in
First Contact
. The ship's about the same size as the
Defiant
, actually, with a crew complement of 43.

Can we have that for a poster? It's cool. Colours and stuff. I'm gonna print it, I think.

I like it! The "CORPS OF ENGINEERS" is large and really stands out!
