at my shop we randomly get DHL shipments. one was for the new Woodward book when it came out. they said that they couldnt deliver bc of an invalid address, even though there is ONLY ONE BOOKSHOP in my ENTIRE town. ups and fedex just seem... less stiff than dhl, they will ask us if we know a person or a shop, but it seems, as happened to Bill, and other commentors there, DHL will just say, "oh well, invalid."
also, just to tell You, im sending out Serenity: the novelization tomorrow!

DHL Sucks
|
About twenty years ago I ordered a car part that was to large for ups and fedex, but I was told DHL could ship it for about half the cost of truck freight and they could ship COD (cash on delivery for the DHL employees out there), so I had them deliver it and I payed for it with a M.O.. Two months later I got a bill from DHL. I called them and told them it was COD and I payed them with a M.O.. About three months later DHL sent me another invoice, stating that if I didn't pay, they would cancel my account and turn it over to collection, so I called them again. Now I told them that I never had an account, I didn't want an account and their invoice was COD and paid. I thought that was the end of it and it was for about six more months, when I received a letter from a collection company, telling me if I didn't pay this invoice, I would get bad marks on my TRW. So I called DHL again and told them that this COD invoice was paid and if your drivers can't get back with their checks, maybe they need new drivers. I also told them that if anything shows on my TRW, I would sue. The letters quit coming and for twenty years I had no more dealings with DHL.
I now needed something from a friend in Florida, who just happened to ship via DHL, who swore they would have it here Monday. I just moved from one house to another and by accident my friend shipped it to the old address. Now I called DHL on Saturday and told them to send it to the new address and it seamed to go OK. Then Monday around noon they called and said I had to fax them a confirmation letter, OKing the different address. Not having a fax in years, I found a fax and sent it off, expecting it on Monday as they promised my friend. About 8pm Monday, California time DHL called me from New York, telling me that Dell (Dell from hell, that's another story) wouldn't allow the address change without a fax from the shipping company in Florida, not my friend who was the shipper. I asked DHL what Dell had to do with it and she responded, Dell owns a shipping company that was a middle man in this delivery. So, I asked when it would be here and she said Tuesday, before five. Tuesday morning about 7:30am I called DHL and after arguing with them I asked where the package was, hoping I could pick it up locally. I was told it was in Riverside, about twenty miles from me. So I asked when it got there and if I could pick it up. She said it got there Saturday, but I couldn't pick it up and it would be delivered to my old address by 5pm. I told her if I wasn't there to throw the package over the fence. I then headed to my old address to wait, luckily I still own the old address. The DHL beat me there by about five minutes. I know this, not because of a note on the door, but because of the skid marks in the parking area. No package in the yard, so again I called DHL. They promissed me it would return before 5pm. About 6pm I returned home and checked DHL's web site, which informed me that they couldn't leave the package because it was a commercial location, which it is not. My friend may have saved a few bucks, but it has cost me three days. I guess this Flintstone outfit doesn't have radios in their trucks, so the driver couldn't return Tuesday. DHL Sucks is way to kind.
