contentAlso, it shouldn't be a surprise that you will be called upon to produce your MetroCard upon embarkation, so it might behoove you to have it ready when you get on instead of fumbling through your pockets at the top stair while folks with cards ready are standing in the rain.
(Minus the rain, the previous paragraph applies to people in the supermarket who are caught utterly flatfooted by the fact that they have to provide payment for the just-rung-up groceries.)
