drewshi, The Chronic Rift will be returning in podcast form.TCR was a talk show on New York City public access cable that ran from 1990-1994. I was the cohost of the show for its entire run -- first with
jafinnola and then with the LJ-less Lipchick -- and also the producer under executive producer drewshi, who also directed most every episode. I also did a comics review segment called "Comic Art Commentary."drewshi is reviving the Rift as a podcast. The TV show had news, reviews (of comics, TV, movies, and games), and then the Roundtable discussion, which was a panel discussion on some topic or other relating to the genre of science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics, animation, etc.The monthly podcast will be similar in form, only it won't have straight-up news, but just comments on cool genre stuff we've seen/encountered in the previous four weeks. Then the reviews, then the Roundtable.
Since I haven't paid much attention to comics of late for financial reasons, and since I'm also writing them, reviewing them's a bit of a conflict of interest. So instead, I'll be doing TV reviews, which is what
popfiend did on the TV show. The Fiend of Pop will instead be doing an Andy Rooney-style segment.The first episode is scheduled to go live on 22 September 2008. It'll be available on iTunes, Podomatic, and through the Rift web site.
