The firsts month of the Roman year, March is named for Mars, the god of war but also an agricultural deity.
The unpredictability of March weather leads to some confusion (March has many weathers), though it is generally agreed that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Yet, because March is often too wet for crops to flourish, many considered a bushel of Marche dust [a dry March] is worth a ransom of gold.
March hares are "mad" with nothing more than lust, since it is their mating season.
The Mars bar is named after its creator, Frank Mars.
