soon-to-be-ex-Governor Sarah Palin

Governor Sarah Palin has announced that she will step down as Alaska's governor this month.

The cynic in me figures she's getting out of Dodge before the next scandal (latest in a series, collect 'em all!) hits her. Besides, now she can focus on her 2012 Presidential bid, where she won't even have her record as the unethical (as determined by a bipartisan committee) leader of a state that has a population that's half that of the Bronx to fall back on to show her *cough* "experience."

But hey, if nothing else, as terri_osborne pointed out, it got the cable news stations to stop talking about Michael Jackson. The worst was yesterday, when MSNBC -- in a classic fit of eating its own tail -- did a news story on whether or not there were too many news stories about MJ. Yeesh.
