Greetings from Toronto, home of exorbitant roaming charges! (Hence the minimal blogging. And my phone says "ROGERS" where it normally says "AT&T." So do many buildings and signs. I'm starting to think the late Mr. Rogers had a similar relationship with Toronto that Lex Luthor has with Metropolis.......)

Fan Expo is remarkably large for a con I'd never heard of before a few months ago. *laughs* It's a bit busier than WonderCon was. I've sold many comics, signed many books (including two people who brought big piles of my prose work to the table), and had a good time. Friday was a bit slow, but Saturday was a steady stream. Lotsa Farscape fans, too, some of whom didn't know about the comics and/or didn't know about the forthcoming DVD set. (They do now....)

Also went to the Marvel party last night, the highlight of which was chatting with Ty Templeton. Ty and I had managed never to meet despite having 49 friends in common, so I'm glad that finally happened. He's a hoot.

Off to breakfast and then the final day of the con....

Current Mood: awake awake

Roaming charges? Don't even go there!

Also, turn off your iPhone's 3G functions or you'll be selling a kidney to pay for them.

Instead, download Skype for the iPhone. Set up an account with as little as US$10, and you can call to the US from Canada (using your phone's ability to pick up unlocked wifi signals) for about 2 cents per minute. Seriously.

The Forebearance wave cheerily from the damp and green northern edge of NYC...

And this Beatles fan waves from Portland, where this morning a sound system was playing some very Beatles-sounding 60s songs and a busker was a block away playing "Rain."

In Toronto, every neighbourhood is Mister Rogers' neighbourhood...

Yes, I'm afraid Canada has some of the world's worst mobile phone rates, so you should find alternative means of communication whenever possible.

And the Big Cell Providers apparently hope to keep it that way for the foreseeable. Much to the annoyance of many across Confederation.

One more reason why I still prefer landlines to cell phones.

Thinking of you, 'cause I found and bought a used copy of Dragon Precinct this morning.

I'm starting to think the late Mr. Rogers had a similar relationship with Toronto that Lex Luthor has with Metropolis.

Heh. (I love that supposedly Pittsburgh was considered a shootign location for that misbegotten Tim Burton Superman and that cool glass-Gothic tower there was going to be LexCorp HQ. Instead it got used as Claw's building in that awful Inspector Gadget movie. A waste of good material, to invoke Spock...

Enjoy Toronto! I've never been there, but I've flown over it.

Should Ottawa be glad to have dodged the "waste of good material" charge by not being used by the second Schumacher-directed Bat-movie, then?

I'm inclined to make my own answer "yes", but it helps to have corroboration.

And as for the late Ted Rogers...considering his company's treatment of the local CFL team, the Argonauts, and its hopes of stealing away the Buffalo Bills to import the NFL in defiance of both Buffalo NFL fandom and Canadian CFL fandom...there are moments when I consider him worse than Lex Luthor.

if you put on a sweater and start singing, I will wonder what your phone is doing for you.

Wish I was there!

If I make it next year, I think I'll go on Friday if that was slow...

I got ganked by Rogers Wireless whilst working over in Montreal, and learned the hard way not to use my cell when the fat bill landed the following month.
