best call ever

Sunday, prior to their game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners announcers -- among them former player Mike Blowers -- did their predictions for what would happen in the game. Blowers initially predicted that rookie Matt Tuiasosopo would hit his first major-league home run in the game.

Then he got silly about it. He said it would be in his second at-bat on a 3-1 fastball, which he'd deposit in the second deck of left-center field.

Sure enough, in Tuiasosopo's second at-bat, he worked a 3-1 count, and grooved a fastball over the wall in left-center field.

Didn't hit the second deck, though. *grin*

I first heard of this via terri_osborne on last night's Rachel Maddow Show (who cried, "You gotta see this!" and rewound her DVR), but Rob Neyer was kind enough to link to a blog that provided audio of both Blowers's prediction and the call of Tuiasosopo's home run.

Naturally, the prediction is already on Blowers's wikipedia page...............

You can't make this shit up. *laughs*
