After some 17 rounds of fighting against some tough opponents, I finished the third day of the black-belt promotion. I was issued my belt, and Shihan putting it on me, I was suffused with overwhelming pride and gratitude.
There's one last thing to do: an intense workout in our dojo. We're back to being white belts for that final killer class. Then we go out to a local Japanese restaurant for dinner, beer, and sake.
