ten down, one to go.....

The Yankees won a thriller in Philly last night, 7-4, though the game was much closer than that. Ultimately, the Phils lost because Charlie Manuel mistook some good low-leverage work by Brad Lidge in the first two rounds for him having closer pixie dust again. After retiring Hideki Matsui and Derek Jeter, he fell apart in a ten-pitch at-bat to Johnny Damon, who singled, and three batters, two stolen bases, a hit-by-pitch, a double, and a single later, it was over.

The game, that is. The Yanks are up 3-1, but they have to actually win that fourth game, and Philadelphia will not go gently into that good night. They are, after all, the World Phucking Champions (thanks, itsallmishegoss!).

BTW, it was a hilariously bizarre experience attending a Hallowe'en party in Dilly-phelphia filled with Phillies phans while Game 4 was projected on a back wall. I was one of only two Yankee fans in the room, which was twice as many as I thought there'd be. *laughs*

Tonight is A.J. Burnett on short rest versus Cliff Lee on full rest--which is a big reason why this Series is far from over. Lee handcuffed the Yanks in Game 1, and you never know whether you'll get Jekyll A.J. or Hyde A.J.
