David Honigsberg, RIP

Rabbi David Honigsberg (dochyel), one of my best friends, my bandmate with the Don't Quit Your Day Job Players, and generally a good and cool person, has died of a heart attack. He was under 50.

I have no words. This is beyond devastating.

thanks, everyone

Thanks, everyone, for the condolences on David. I'm at the hospital with Alexandra (David's widow, and that's fucking weird to type) and a cast of thousands. We're all seriously verklempt.....
penguin1, chin up

thanks again, everyone!

Throughout this very very long day, I regularly checked my Treo (when I wasn't talking to someone on the phone on it), and I shared all your well wishes with Alexandra, both at the hospital, and then later at her apartment.

It's been a very rough day. A friend is staying with Alexandra tonight, and funeral arrangements should be finalized tomorrow afternoon (Friday morning is looking the most likely, and it'll be here in NYC).

If anyone wants info on the service when we have it, e-mail me at

The Deathless is out!

In the "aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?" category, I got my hot-off-the-presses copies of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Deathless today. It looks both spiffy and nifty.

This means it should be showing up in your local bookstore any moment now....

quote of the day

Allen Barra, a renowned local sportswriter, has joined the staff of "Bronx Banter," a Yankees-focused blog run by a fella named Alex Belth. Here's what Barra had to say in his introductory column:

To be honest, I'm not entirely certain of what a "blog" is. Before I met Alex, I thought a blog was a Danish breakfast treat. Now, after reading Alex, I've discovered it's really a device for baring your soul, like Dostoevsky, only more neurotic.
