my Sunday feeling

This morning was Kagami Biraki, which is the new year's workout. It was less well attended than last year, but that can be chalked up to the absence of one of the Shihans, who was in Thailand. Nobody from his dojo (in Brooklyn) actually made the trek up to the Bronx, so it was just folks from three of the four NYC dojos. It was a very intense (and crowded and sweaty) workout, and it was fun to see some of the folks from the other dojos again.

I have also discovered the joys of orange-pineapple juice.

Going to go collapse now.........

Did a very good talk at the monthly "Face the Fiction" meeting of the Science Fiction Society of Northern New Jersey, which was held at a Border in Paramus. Having been loaned the parents' minivan, I drove out to the Garden State Plaza, which only too about 20 minutes, then it took another 20 minutes to find somewhere to park. *laughs*

I did my usual q&a, autographed a bunch of books, chatted about various and sundry projects, pimped future projects, and generally had a grand old time.

Afterward, the SNSNNJers took me to a local diner, where I had a birch beer float -- or, as I like to call it, heaven. I love root beer floats, but I love birch beer far more than I love root beer, and this was just amazing. Worth the trip all by itself....
