I promised two Times best-sellers, did I not? *grin* This is also the first time that either Peter David or Diane Duane has written professional Who fiction, and while I'm stunned it took this long, I'm thrilled that I got to be the one to get them to do it.

This is the first piece of professional fiction for Linnea Dodson, and I believe the first pro prose sale for Kathleen David, though I could be wrong. (Kath?) And while all the stories are excellent, I have to give props to Jim Swallow for originality of premise and to Allyn Gibson for originality of format. *grin*

Edited to add: Each of the first eight Doctors -- William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, and Paul McGann -- is represented at least once in the anthology, and a couple get two stories....

Enjoy!

"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"

So I've seen the first episode of Torchwood's second season.

"Excuse me -- have you seen a blowfish drivin' a sports car?"

"Bloody Torchwood...."

"Which artery are you going to sever?"

"Mine's bigger."
"Yeah, but mine lasts longer."

"Did he get down on one knee?"
"Well, he tried, but his back went out and he lay down on the setee, and then he proposed."

"It's more fun when he's around, though."
"Yeah."

"Did he get to the part about not kissing me yet?"

The show feels more together and more fun, at least based on the first episode. And I didn't want to strangle Owen even once! I'm eagerly looking forward to the rest of the season (especially the guest turn by Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, because Martha fucking rocks).

dragon precinct

nice review!

The "Grasping for the Wind" blog has a very nice review of Bad-Ass Faeries, an anthology that includes one of my Dragon Precinct stories.

Money quote:

House Arrest by Keith R. A. DeCandido takes the traditional brownie story and turns it on its head. What happens, after all, when a house fairy doesn’t get his milk? This story had, for me, a surprising ending and I thought this to be a clever little story.

Go me!

(You can order the anthology from the publisher or from various online merchants....)

more ow

I thought my back was better. It was fine all day.

Then I went to karate class.

Sigh.

If I had a working brain (hah!), I would have put a pain patch on before going to karate. But I'm an idiot, so I didn't, and when we started stretching, the back twinged on me, and I was in agony for the rest of the class. Some things I could do fine, others, not so much. (Kicks were awful, e.g.)

So of course, I get to sit in a car for many hours tomorrow night. Wheeeee!
