So, since the presidential contenders appear to have been whittled down to Senators Clinton, McCain, and Obama, it means 2009 will be the first time since 1961 that a President has sworn the oath of office whose previous job title was "Senator." Since JFK, every single President we've had has had "Governor" (Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush the Younger) or "Vice President" (Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Bush the Elder) as their previous job.
