Janet Kagan, RIP
Janet Kagan, author of many fine SF novels, among them the Star Trek novel Uhura's Song and the magnificent Hellspark, died today of acute chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
I first met Janet when she appeared on The Chronic Rift back in the early 1990s, and she was very very good people who I always loved hanging out with. She will be deeply missed.

I am a hopeless geek
I have just paid a lot of money for a ticket to see Arlo Guthrie at the Patchogue Theatre on 10 May 2008, which is very far away from my house, as part of his "Solo Reunion Tour: Together At Last (with the original band)."
*sigh*
I last saw Arlo in concert when I was in college, during his traditional play-at-Carnegie-Hall-on-the-day-after-T hanksgiving concert. I reviewed the concert for the paper. Should dig that up....
