alien spotlight

progress...

No ghostwriting work today, sadly, but I did finish the first part of the Alien Spotlight comic and sent it off to the editor. So that's the first seven pages and the final eight pages done, with the seven pages in the middle still to go.....

A Burning House reviewed again!

This time it's Dreamwatch's "Total Sci-Fi" web site. Patrick Holm gave it a 7/10.

Money quote:

If the thought of reading a 400 page novel about Klingons fills you with dread, don’t let it: this is an exercise in world building to match the Worlds of Deep Space Nine trilogy from a few years back.

Maintains DeCandido’s position as chief chronicler of the Klingons in print, and leaves you eager to learn more.

Gary Gygax, RIP

Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons has died at the age of 69.

Gygax was one of the most influential people to anyone who considered themselves a geek after 1975 or so.

Wow.

I met him once, at I-Con years ago, and we interviewed him for The Chronic Rift (drewshi did the interview). He was apparently hosting weekly D&D games right up until the end.

He will be sorely missed.

(Of course, now Al Gore, Nichelle Nichols, and Stephen Hawking will need a new fourth....)

dear fucknuts:

If you're getting on a city bus at a corner that holds a busy subway station, you shouldn't be surprised that there might be people getting off the bus, out of whose way you should move your fat ass.

Also, it shouldn't be a surprise that you will be called upon to produce your MetroCard upon embarkation, so it might behoove you to have it ready when you get on instead of fumbling through your pockets at the top stair while folks with cards ready are standing in the rain.

(Minus the rain, the previous paragraph applies to people in the supermarket who are caught utterly flatfooted by the fact that they have to provide payment for the just-rung-up groceries.)

no love,

tonight's Jericho

Three words: Ho. Lee. Shit.

This show was good last season. It's fucking intense this season. It really sucks that the ratings have been poor, because this show deserves better. Wow.
