George Carlin, RIP

George Carlin has died at age 71 of heart failure.

Carlin has always been one of my favorite comedians, and I never fail to be amused by any of his specials that show up on HBO Comedy with great regularity. He gave us the Seven Words You Can't Say On TV, he gave us the Hippy Dippy Weatherman, he gave us the baseball vs. football rant. He made us think about language, about religion, about culture, about politics, about everything.

He was a great American, and anybody who thinks otherwise has wholly missed the point.

Rest in peace, good sir.

the house is quiet.....

We have deposited booraven22 and brpellis at LaGuardia and returned the minivan to my parents'. There may be more drama, as their flight was cancelled, and they're on stnadby for the next one. If they don't get on that one, they can't go home until tomorrow, which means we get them for one more night (which is why I haven't folded up the futon in my office back to couch mode).

After spending the day at Popfiendia yesterday, we wandered over to suricattus's place for a spot of dessert and drink, and allowing Heidi and Brian to meet LAG's cats, Boomer and Pandora. Then we hied back home and watched The Venture Bros. and In Plain Sight.

Today we were too knackered to do anything, so we just hung out and watched DVDs of both Venture and The Young Ones. Then we took them off to the airport, came home, and both took naps. *chuckle* Still, we already miss them. *sniff* It was great having them here, and this has simply been the bestest weekend EVAR!!!!!1111!!!!!!1111eleventy-one!!!!

Tonight it's back to karate for the first time since Wednesday, and an attempt to dive back into A Singular Destiny...
