writing

the indefinite article

I've noticed that a lot of my titles start with the indefinite article ("a," "an"). Not sure why this is, but I've noticed a preponderance lately:

    A Singular Destiny
    A Gutted World
    A Burning House
A Time for War, a Time for Peace
    A Good Day to Die

    "A Clean Getaway"
"A Vampire and a Vampire Hunter Walk Into a Bar"
    "A Bone to Pick"
"An Evening in the Bronx with Venom"

Of course, that last one listed was my first short story sale. Maybe that's why I keep coming back to it.... *laughs*

and another review!

The hits just keep on coming. With thanks to troll_bridge for the link, starri1 wrote a review of Star Trek: Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions.

Money quote on A Gutted World:
It's very, very dark ... but like any good conspiracy story, it has to be. The focus here is on Kira, still a terrorist and the last surviving member of the Shakaar resistance cell, trying to get to Federation space to deliver a terrible, terrible secret. The other focus is on Picard, and his hatred of the cycle of war that the Alpha Quadrant seems to have found itself in. The ending is decidedly downbeat, but it works.

Robbie Greenberger, RIP

I just learned that Robbie Greenberger has lost his lengthy fight with leukemia. He died tonight, surrounded by family. Robbie was only 20 years old.

I've honestly been prepared for this since Shore Leave, when Robbie had to have an operation to remove an infected part of one of his lungs. He wasn't able to come back from that.

He was a good kid. His father has been a good friend for 20 years, and I've known Robbie for just about all of his life. His sister Kate is one of my fellow Boogie Knights. I can't imagine what this must be like for them.
