trek

some crossover reviews

TrekMovie has done a retrospective of several Star Trek novel crossovers. Among those included in this go-round: Gateways and my two-book The Brave and the Bold. Gateways was given overall a B, with my novel Demons of Air and Darkness considered the "standout."

TB&TB fared less well with one of the reviewers, who gave it a C and described it as "badly written." The other reviewer found it more interesting and gave it a B+.

so, let me see if I've got this straight....

With the economy turning into a pile of goo, Senator John McCain has decided to suspend his campaign, so he can go to Washington to help solve the crisis. He's not on the banking committee, he has nothing to do with any of this, and based on what we've heard from Senator Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank, his presence is less than useless.

Also: why is he suspending his campaign? As Senator Obama and many others have pointed out: being president of the United States means being able to do more than one thing at a time.

Senator McCain also is saying he won't come to the debate on Friday if there isn't a deal in place to deal with the immediate financial crisis.

One of my favorite episodes of The West Wing is "Game On," which is the presidential debate I always wanted to see and never have. President Bartlet has a line there that's worth repeating: "Every once in a while, there's a day with an absolute right and an absolute wrong, but those days almost always include body counts. Other than that, there aren't very many un-nuanced moments in leading a country."

This campaign has given many indications that Senator McCain may not be up to handling the nuances.....
