Spent the afternoon with mauizen6, the last chance I'll have to see her before she and her hubby move to Ohio at the end of the month. Then had dinner with the parents', then came home. Did a bit of work on the Strange Detractors #2 script, but not nearly enough. Brain no workie. So to bed I go, to get a fresh start in the a.m.

I haven't been paying as much attention to the comics industry as I used to. I had to stop buying comics completely, as me walking into a comics store was like an alcoholic walking into a bar. I couldn't just buy one, and I couldn't (and still can't) afford to buy a huge pile of them, and I'd inevitably wind up with a huge pile.
Because of this, I had no idea what Jim Balent -- an artist who first came to prominence drawing DC's Catwoman comic book in the 1990s, and one of the purveyors of the "bad girl" trend of that era -- was doing with himself these days.

THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL
The United Nations Security Council has a mandate under the 1945 United Nations Charter to maintain international peace and security. The Council held its first meeting in London in January 1946, and has been in continuous session ever since( a representative of each of the member nations is present at the UN's headquarters at all times). The Council has five permanent members: China, France, the Russian Federation, the UK, and the US. Alongside these serve ten nonpermanent members, who are elected for two-year terms by the UN General Assembly. In 2007-08, the nonpermanent members were: Belgium, Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy, ,Panama, Peru, Qatar, Slovakia, and South Africa. The one-month presidency of the Security Council rotates among members of the Council according to the English alphabetical order of the country names. Each Council member may cast one vote. For a resolution to be passed, at least nine of the fifteen must vote yes. All permanent members of the Council must vote in teh affirmative for substantive matters to pass, giving each one a veto. The United Nations Charter states that all members are obliged to accept and enforce decisions made by the Security Council--it is the only UN body that has such powers.

"Everybody Looks Good at the Starting Line" by Paul Thorn
Quite simply one of the finest actors of our time, he never failed to give a performance that wasn't perfectly intense. He's most famous for The Prisoner, of course, though the role of his that blew me away most was a more recent one, as Longshanks in Braveheart.
