The Chronic Rift Roundtable: Star Trek at Shore Leave 31

The Summer of the Rift continues with an episode recorded live at Shore Leave 31 this past weekend, as hosts John S. Drew and Keith R.A. DeCandido are joined by Star Trek novelist Greg Cox and fan Karen Mitchell Carothers to discuss the new JJ Abrams Star Trek film, with additional comments from the audience at the panel.

The episode is available at iTunes, at the Rift web site and at podOmatic's Rift page.

the Boogie Knights on YouTube

shawan_7 has put up several videos on YouTube of Boogie Knights songs performed at Shore Leave 31 this past weekend.

Thus far she's put up "On My Oath," "I'll Rock Your World," and "I'm Gonna Wreck the Shrine," the latter being my BK lead vocal debut. Check 'em out! (That same link will bring you to some videos from last year's Shore Leave as well....)

Parisians stormed the Bastille fortress-prison and released all seven prisoners during the French Revolution (1789)

AMYCLAEAN SILENCE describes a reticence to speak that causes defeat. It derives from the inhabitants of Amyclae, who were so exasperated by constant rumors of a Spartan attack that they passed a decree forbidding anyone to discuss the subject. When the Spartans actually invaded, the Amyclaens were too scared to mention it and the town was quickly taken.
