nova, spectres

progress...

Got 2500 words of Spectres written yesterday, bringing me to the end of Chapter 15. Next up is the climactic fight scene between Nova and the bad guy, and then the denouement/epilogue.

my Sunday feeling

Been lumpy today. Slept in, then watched Old Timers Day, and now watching the regular game. There's nothing quite so amazing as the Yankees' OTD. Seeing the likes of Whitey Ford and Bobby Richardson and Moose Skowron and Yogi Berra alongside Yankees I grew up watching like Reggie Jackson and Ron Guidry and Bucky Dent and Graig Nettles to more recent greats like Dwight Gooden and Mike Mussina and Joe Girardi and David Cone.

Probably the most impressive moment was seeing 60-year-old Mickey Rivers stretch a single into a double with a burst of speed after rounding first. Half the current players don't run that fast... *laughs*

Some of the interviews were fun, too, but my favorite was Ken Griffey Sr., who was a pip.

Now I'm watching Joba Chamberlain pitch one of his best starts of the year. Sadly, Edwin Jackson is doing likewise for the Tigers, and it's tied 1-1, with both teams having a solo homer and nought else.

Off to the forebearance for dinner tonight, and need to do more work on Spectres....

Edited to add: Mark Teixeira just crushed a shot to right to make it 2-1 Yanks.

PASCAL ON ENNUI

Nothing is an unbearable to man as to be completely at rest, without passion, without business, without diversion, without employment. This is when he feels his nothingness, his deprivation, his insufficiency, his dependency, his impotence, his hollowness. Presently, and from the depth of his soul he will bring up ennui, blackness, sadness, grief, resentment, despair.

congrats to mabfan and gnomi!!!!!

Nomi Burstein (gnomi) has given birth to twin daughters. Congrats to her and proud father Michael (mabfan)!

As terri_osborne and I were just saying to each other, I can't think of anyone I know who weren't already parents who will make better parents than the Bursteins.

The girls will be named this coming weekend on Shabbos.

Again, my friends, congrats!
