heart of the dragon

progress....

Wrote a touch over 2000 words of Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon to get Chapter 7 finished. I'm at 18,670 words, which is another 2000 words off pace, but I'm not overly concerned. All will be well.

Cha cha cha.

Plan 9 from Outer Space like it oughtta be

Tonight, along with drewshi, jafinnola, and Daddy Bear, I saw the RiffTrax gang (former folks from Mystery Science Theatre 3000) do Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Now it should be pointed out that Plan 9 isn't really the worst movie ever made. Hell, it isn't even the worst movie Ed Wood ever made. That honor goes to Glen or Glenda? At least Plan 9 has something vaguely resembling a plot. All GoG has is a bunch of disconnected scenes relating to transvestism and angora sweaters and cattle drives, unconvincingly tied together by scenes of Bela Lugosi sitting in a library bellowing "PULL DE SHTRING!" at the top of his lungs for no compellingly good reason.

By comparison, Plan 9 is a masterpiece. Mind you, it's still amazingly dreadful, and seeing Michael Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy (the latter two the last two folks to play Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo, respectively) tore it to pieces with verve.

In addition, there was a short called "Flying Stewardesses," the title of which wins the award from the Department of Multiple Redundancies Department, and we also got to see Jonathan Coulton perform "The Future Soon" and "Re: Your Brains," as well as joining the RiffTones for "Plans 1-9," before finally getting the main event.

We'll be talking more about it on The Chronic Rift next week, but we had a fantastic time. Great great stuff....

LAZY MAN'S LOAD

A Lazy Man's Load is one too heavy to be carried; named after indolent types who overload themselves, hoping that they will not need to return for another.

Friday stuffs

Got nothing significant done on Heart of the Dragon, as I'm having trouble figuring out how the next scene should play out.

I did expand a pitch at the request of a comics editor. We'll see if it flies.

Made a couple of phone calls and sent a few e-mails.

Recorded an episode of The Chronic Rift in Review, which will go live on Monday. I talked RiffTrax, baseball, and Torchwood: Children of Earth.

Watched the Yankees pummel the Red Sox 20-11.

Now I'm off to bed early, as I have to get up early to go running with Shihan -- part of the black-belt promotion prep. Blee.
