WINE PROVERBS

A cellar without wine, a home without woman, a purse without money, are three deadly plagues.

A quarrelsome servant, a good horse, and a choice bottle, never stay long with a man.

Burgundy is the wine of princes, Sillery of nobles, Claret of the gentle born; and Port of the citizens.

Burgundy smiles, Hock winks, Champagne laughs, and Lafite puts a heart into all.

SUPERSTITIOUS CURES FOR HICCUPS

To cure hiccups:

Frighten the person who has them;
Eat sugar and vinegar;
Take small sips from a teacup;
Tell a lie to the sufferer;
Rub the palm of the left hand with the thumb of the right;
Drink from teh opposite lip of a glass of water;
Promise the sufferer money if he or she hiccups again.

well, that was over fast.....

Today our Crew Leader announced that we had no more work. For all that they called this an eight-week operation, the scuttlebutt was that they wanted it done in three weeks, and sure enough, it is. So once again, I have done my Census-ly duties, until such a time as they see fit to call me for more work.
