Sent off the YA graphic novel proposal to the publisher I met at ALA. It's a total shot in the dark, but we'll see what happens.

Productive day, all told. Now I'm going to go reward myself by watching a Barney Miller episode on DVD...............

stupid history

Stupid History 23-24 January 2010

In 1980, an oil rig set up in the middle of Lake Peigneur, near New Iberia, Louisiana, accidentally bore into an enormous salt mine that tunneled under the lake. The rig, a tugboat, eleven barges from the canal, a barge loading dock, seventy acres of Jefferson Island and its botanical gardens, parts of greenhouses, a house trailer, trucks, tractors, a parking lot, and all of the lake water went down the drain.

new monthly Farscape comic features Scorpius

The news broke on IO9 this morning: Starting in April, there will be a second ongoing monthly Farscape comic book published by BOOM! Studios: Farscape: Scorpius, which will debut with a #0 issue. As with the regular comic, it'll be plotted by series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon, but this one will be scripted by my good buddy (and fellow tie-in novelist) David Alan Mack (infinitydog), with art by Mike Ruiz.

It's going to be very very cool -- and also much darker than the main book that I'm scripting. Dave and I are having a lot of fun coordinating our efforts and keeping things consistent.

Trust me, you think the first year of Farscape comics have been good? You ain't seen nothin' yet.....

(So glad I can finally talk about this -- Dave and I have been sitting on this for months.... *laughs*)
