my Sunday feeling

Yesterday, we spent the day with two dear friends of ours. We went to the American Museum of Natural History and saw many cool things -- starting, of course, with the blue whale, and proceeding to various and sundry nifty things, including parts of the museum I hadn't been to in ages. (There will be pictures.)

Then we went to see Oz, the Great and Powerful, which was a great deal of fun. Nothing mind-blowing, but it worked well as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, and I liked the way Franco played the lead as a most reluctant hero who's really kind of an asshole. (The Wicked Witch of the West exists because he's a womanizing asshat. For that matter, he only winds up in Oz because he's a womanizing asshat.) Also Zach Braff wins the Gilbert Gottfried Memorial Award For Being Less Annoying When Voicing An Animated Character Because Then You Don't Have To Look At Him for his voicing of Finley the monkey.

After that, we rode on the Roosevelt Island tram (again, pictures to come) and took in lovely views of Enn Why See before heading to Serendipity 3 (one of my favorite restaurants).

Today is a whole mess of religious observances: the seventh going into the eighth day of Passover, Easter Sunday, opening day of the baseball season, the last day of regionals in March Madness, the premiere of the third season of Game of Thrones on HBO, and, apparently, the season finale of The Walking Dead on AMC (which I didn't know until after folks pointed it out to me on Facebook, since I long ago stopped giving a shit about that overrated show).

This agnostic baseball fan will be recording episode 30 of Dead Kitchen Radio (I'll be reading one of the stories from Tales from Dragon Precinct, "Catch and Release") as well as some lines for an audio drama, writing my opening-day piece for the Pinstriped Bible, working on The Project That Cannot Be Named (Yet), watching the new Doctor Who, and having a big-ass dinner with family.

What're y'all up to today?
