"A Vampire and a Vampire Hunter Walk Into a Bar" up for an Audioverse Award!
Back in October 2012, Gypsy Audio released an audio adaptation of my short story "A Vampire and a Vampire Hunter Walk Into a Bar." The story has an interesting history: it was originally written for a Van Helsing themed anthology edited by Jeanne Cavelos, but she wound up not taking it because it was too silly -- every other story in the book was dark, and this one would've stuck out like a sore thumb. Then I turned around and sold it to Amazing Stories, in what turned out to be the final print edition of the magazine in February 2005. (Yes, I helped kill Amazing Stories....) And then it was picked up for the inaugural issue of the e-zine The Town Drunk in 2006.
Now, though, I'm pleased to say that my little story's audio edition (for which I provided one of the two voices) has been nominated for an Audioverse Award for Best Original Comedy of the Year. I am very well pleased.
(An additional shoutout to my buddy Jay Smith and his HG World family of zombie apocalypse audio dramas, of which I am a part -- the HGW spinoff The Googies is up for three awards, one for the show in general, and one each in acting categories for Ayoub Khote and M. Sieiro Garcia.)
