I'm thankful for my family, both blood and chosen: Wrenn, Dale, the Forebearance, the Godmommy, Meredith & Anneliese, Lilly, and the kitty cats, Kaylee and Louie.
I'm thankful for my friends, far too numerous to list here, but among them: my sister from another mister Laura Anne, my brother from another mother Dave, my superlative agent and dear friend Lucienne, as well as Glenn & Brandy, Pete & Ty, Jonathan & Sara Jo, Laura, Megan, Bonnie & Brian, Danielle, Amanda, Nancy, Heather & Keric, Aaron & Jen & the howlers, the other Dave, Peter, Amy, Susan, Catelynn & Mark, Tara, Liz, Elizabeth & Jimmy & the Boy, Lisa, Karen, Heather & Luke, Jay & Pam & the brood, Joe & Helena, Eric, Zan, Hugh & Stephanie, Karen & Dennis, Em & De & the girls, Alexandra, Mike, Ellen & Andy & the girls, KT, Orenthal, and all the others I forgot because I'm a dumbass.....
I'm thankful for my fellow Boogie Knights, with whom I get to make music, albeit not nearly often enough: John, Dave, Sharon, Kate, Linda, and Lynn.
I'm thankful for my fellow karateka, from Shihan and Sensei to my fellow black belts to the other adult students to the kids I've taught, especially the ones who come to my Friday night class, who have all enriched my life in so many ways.
I'm thankful for my afterschool karate programs: Claudia, who runs the program, as well as Anjelica, Jackie, Jessica, and Siena, who help out, and all the kids I teach.
I'm thankful for my editors: Sally Malcolm at Fandemonium, Al Guthrie at Bastei, Paul and the two Robs at Redhead Books, Jessica Brawner at Story of the Month Club, plus anthologists Jonathan Maberry, Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Greg Schauer, and Michael A. Ventrella.
I'm thankful for the community of writers, whether it's the rest of the Liars Club gang or fellow members of the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers or the regular gang of idiots who go to Farpoint and Shore Leave -- you're all an amazing, supportive, delightful bunch, and I'm proud to consider you all friends as well as respected colleagues.
I'm thankful for my fans. I truly have the best fans in the world, and I'm reminded of that with every e-mail, every review (even the negative ones), every tweet, every Facebook post, every blog comment, every public appearance, and so on. The outpouring of support in June when we were having our financial issues was especially gratifying, and just in general the enthusiasm my writing has continued to receive warms the cockles of my heart.
I'm thankful that we had Scooter as long as we did, and that when we did lose him in June it was fast. He was the best dog ever.
And I'm thankful for a ton of other things, as well, including every single one of you reading this.
