let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height
Last year, woofiegrrl bought me and wrenn a Red Baron kite at the Air and Space Museum in D.C.

Today, Wrenn and I went down to Van Cortlandt Park and flew the kite! It was wonderful. Both of us used to fly kites as kids, but neither of us had done so in way too long. When we were cleaning the apartment for the party last month, we came across the kite, and I announced that we would go fly the kite this weekend.

And so we did. It was very windy today, but it's a box kite, and the wind was actually perfect for it. Some pics and two videos for your enjoyment...........

Just a glorious afternoon..............

Looks like a wonderful day!

When I lived out on Long Island, I got into kite flying. Just cheap little delta kites that would fly on the slightest breeze, and I loved it. Many evenings I'd drive over to the Sound or to what the map is telling me is Peconic River, but I always thought of as Shelter Island Bay and play with my kites until it was dark.

Thanks for sharing, and bringing back some fond memories!
