two crowdfunds you should totally support
Two crowdfunds, both for short story anthologies, one a Kickstarter that's run by friends, the other an Indie Go Go that I'm actually in!

The first is Man and Machine, the latest military SF anthology in the "Defending the Future" series, edited by the mighty Mike McPhail. I've contributed to this series in the past -- "The Stone of the First High Pontiff" in Best Laid Plans -- and the next anthology will be published by eSpec Books. This one will feature stories about the use of equipment in futuristic military engagements, with stories by Bud Sparhawk, Jennifer Brozek, Ronald Garner, Aaron Rosenberg, Brenda Cooper, James Chambers, Nancy Jane Moore, Patrick Thomas, Jeff Young, Eric Hardenbrook, Robert E. Waters, Anton Kukal, and Danielle Ackley-McPhail.

The other is one I'm not currently listed as being a part of, but rest assured, I will be. (I was kinda late in getting my story in.) This is the tale I wrote this week, in fact. It's for Altered States of the Union, an alternate history anthology in which all the stories involve the map of the U.S. being different in some significant way. In my case, the story is about the Conch Republic of the Florida Keys, which broke off from the U.S. in 1925. Other stories in this anthology edited by Glenn Hauman are by (among others), Debra Doyle & James D. Macdonald, Brendan DuBois, Malon Edwards, G.D. Falksen, Michael Jan Friedman, David Gerrold, Alisa Kwitney, Gordon Linzner, Sarah McGill, Mackenzie Reide, Ian Randal Strock, and Ramón Terrell. The book will be debuting at Shore Leave 38, and will be published by Crazy 8 Press and ComicMix, so do support it!
