Monday music: "Duke of Earl"
The Nylons are a fantastic a cappella group that had their heyday in the 1980s. They've done a lot of great songs, both original ("Combat Zone" is a killer, and "Bop Til You Drop" is a delight) and covers (their versions of "Drift Away" and "Chain Gang" are magnificent), but my favorite of theirs is this stupendous cover of "Duke of Earl."

Do yourself a favor -- play it loud.

Current Mood: happy happy

Duke of Earl is one of the first songs in my memory bank. I read that it first came out in 1962 and I'd have been four.

Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl...oh no...that will be in my head now for days!

(I bet I still have the single of it from the 1960s; it was either my mom's or my sister's.)
